Duration : 60 months / January 2014 – January 2019
Project Summary
The CITyFiED project will concentrate its activities to develop a systemic vision and strategy to adapt European cities and its urban ecosystem into smart, sustainable and inclusive cities of the future. The outcome should deliver a highly replicable strategy to be firstly implemented in three real scale demonstrators and further expanded through a European Cities Cluster that will be created around the project.
The CITyFIED project aims are as follows;
To development of innovative and cost effective methodologies and procedures
To become future’s smart cities
To decrease the energy demand
To generalize renewable energy consumption
To reduce GHG emissions
To improve methodologies for building renovations
To generalize smart grid architecture
To install district network heating
To develop ICT(information and communication technologies)
To organize cluster of cities
The project implemented in Lund (Sweden), Soma (Turkey) and Valladolid (Spain). A deep retrofitting of the buildings, an innovative district heating and cooling concept and a set of solutions to improve the grid management and increase the distributed electricity generation are going to be carried out in order to achieve powerful models suitable for replication across Europe.
